createCollection

mutation · in the family Collection

What it does

Create a new collection — a curated or rule-driven product set at your organization.

Create a Collection in the caller's org group; requires the unrestricted capability.

Who may call it

Capability area: Catalog structure — Creating and retiring catalog families and whole items.

Arguments

NameTypeRequiredNotes
inputNewCollectionInput NewCollectionInput!yesNo further notes.

Returns

Collection Collection! — A collection — a consumer-facing curated or rule-driven grouping of Products (gift guides, seasonal edits). collectionType is canned + IMMUTABLE at birth: static = curated CollectionMember child records; dynamic = membership DERIVED from the stored predicate (stored + validated; EVALUATION is a deferred read-model slice, nothing evaluates yet). Member records on a dynamic collection are its PINS (manual-pins-first). inactive = STAGED/unpublished. NO per-org selection construct exists; decorations are first-class.

Errors this call can answer

Dry run

Add dryRun: true to the request envelope (extensions.at) to rehearse this call: every check runs, the write is rehearsed against the current records and nothing is stored; the answer is the refusal a real call would give, or the record it would create. Every response to a rehearsal carries dryRun: true, so a rehearsed record is never mistaken for a saved one.
