# Report

The `Report` family — 7 operations.

A saved report is a named, editable report definition — the plan that says which records, and either the columns to show for each record or the fields to group by and the measures to total — that anyone with the right can run as themselves, now (rows on screen) or in the background (a file). It stores the question, never an answer: every run reads the live records under the runner’s own permissions, so two people running the same report each see only what their role may list. The definition is checked when it is saved and again every time it runs; if a field it names has since moved, the run says so in plain words and the definition is edited, never silently changed. A report is active, inactive (kept but not runnable until brought back), or retired for good.

## Operations

| Operation | Kind | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [createReport](/reference/report/createReport/) | mutation | Save a report definition — a plan with columns, or a group-by and measures; validated now, run later as whoever runs it. |
| [deactivateReport](/reference/report/deactivateReport/) | mutation | Retire a saved report from use — it cannot run until reactivated. |
| [doomReport](/reference/report/doomReport/) | mutation | Permanently retire a saved report — it can never run again. |
| [reactivateReport](/reference/report/reactivateReport/) | mutation | Bring a retired saved report back into use. |
| [report](/reference/report/report/) | query | Look up one saved report definition — its words, the family it reports on, and its spec. |
| [reports](/reference/report/reports/) | query | Your organization group’s saved reports, newest first. |
| [updateReport](/reference/report/updateReport/) | mutation | Rename a saved report, change what it is for, or replace its spec wholesale — the words and family re-derive. |
