# Consumer

The `Consumer` family — 7 operations.

A consumer is one shopper with an account at your group — the person who signs in to browse and buy, kept per group rather than shared across merchants. The record carries the sign-in email (stored trimmed and lowercased; one live shopper per email in your group), a display name, up to four phones and an address book of up to sixteen addresses (shipping, billing or both, with at most one default per side), and the shopper’s own preferences — an optional customer price group, staff tags, a locale, a display currency (prices show in it where a conversion exists, never charge in it), a date of birth, how often, in what format and about what they want to hear from you, their interests, and a preferred store. Passwords never live on this record. Create a shopper here (they cannot sign in until you set a password for them), keep the profile current, and search the book by name. Suspend a shopper to put an abuse or fraud hold on them — their sign-ins go quiet rather than being revoked, and lifting the suspension restores them; erase a shopper who must be forgotten for good — the record is retired, drops from listings and search, and that email can never register at your group again. Two staff acts stand beside the record: revoke every live session of a shopper at once, and set their password directly for a staff-assisted reset (existing sessions stay live, so pair the two after a takeover).
