# Consent record

The `ConsentRecord` family — 2 operations.

A consent record is the proof of one shopper’s decision on one purpose — granted or withdrawn — with the version of the notice they saw, where the decision was captured (the storefront, the till, the back office, the command line or an import) and the language shown. A record exists only once a decision is made: it is born granted on a grant, or withdrawn on a withdrawal, because an explicit no is proof too. Granted and withdrawn swap freely for as long as the shopper exists — withdrawing is exactly as easy as granting — and recording the same decision again under a new notice version keeps every earlier capture as history. There is no form to fill in: record a grant or a withdrawal from the record and it moves; the record ends only when the shopper is erased, and erased consent never returns.
